Camperships
The summer of 2011 allowed us to support over 350 children with a campership; that's a lot of lucky kids!!!
Can you imagine the difference the world would be if all children could come to camp, make friends with people who have different interest and who look different from where he/she came, learn to be accepting of others as they work cooperatively to make schedules and accomplish tasks during the day, and to have a caring, loving, mature Christian staff persons who will help them navigate through their adventures at camp? Can you imagine a camp full of children who return home having grown and matured and become more accepting and how if they could influence just one other person, how the world would change?
All children deserve a chance to go to a Christian camp where loving, mature, Christian counselors are supervising their daily activities and helping them learn to live with other campers who are "different" from themselves.
Some children receive this experience, but there are some children who, for various reasons are unable to afford this experience. This is one of the easiest things a person can do, which makes a difference.....send a child to camp! All it takes is a donation to the PCA Campership Fund. Small donations are put together until we receive enough for a camper; large donations will send several children to camp. The PCA Campership Fund is administered by a Board member and a Campership Committee, who confidentially consider these requests and award the funds. The number of campers attending who would not otherwise be able, to do so is limited only by the amount of funds received. Each year over 250+ campers attend some form of camp at the HOLMES Presbyterian Camp & Conference Center because of the generosity of people such as you. This year we will need about $50,000 to be able to match the number of requests we will receive. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by when you can made a difference!
A check in any amount is welcome. In 2012, $625 will send a child to camp for one week. A two-week campership is $1,300. Make your tax deductible check to PCA (Presbyterian Conference Assoc.), mark it "Campership Fund" and mail to: 60 Denton Lake Road, Holmes, NY 12531.
