Summer Staff Positions

Staff Member With CamperIt's never too early to start thinking about next summer. We are looking for persons with a Christian Faith to share who are interested in working with children for 8 weeks during the summer. Pay starts at $250.00 per week plus meals and housing. Applicants should be 18 years or older. The Presbyterian Center at Holmes is located 55 miles north of New York City, within 10 minutes from the train stop into the city. We are in the beautiful Putnam Highlands on 550 acres, with 4 lakes.

Your commitment would be from mid- June through the second week of August.

We are looking for a quality, dedicated, Christian staff. Come for a fun, faith filled summer experience serving children and youth creating memories that will last a lifetime!

We are looking for young adults and adults who:

  • Have a strong Christian Faith to share
  • Are interested in working with children
  • Work well with children
  • Are interested in a summer of mission work
  • Are interested in developing Christian leadership skills

There are opportunities for service and learning in the following job categories:

Group Counselors: Who live with campers, help develop weekly schedule of activities and lead Christian Growth of camper groups.

Waterfront Staff: To provide general swim supervision, swimming lessons, and boating and canoeing supervision on our three lakes. This waterfront staff needs to have Lifeguard Certification (we can provide training for strong swimmers). Additional responsibilities will include rainy day activities, participation in Bible study, meals and evening program.

Program Specialists: Persons with special skills in the following areas who can provide Christian leadership to camper groups. Additional responsibilities will include rainy day activities, participation in Bible Study, meals and evening program.

  • Arts & Crafts: Develop and lead arts and craft lessons that are appropriate to age levels of campers and complement the Christian Education theme of camp sessions and interest campers.
  • Bakery - Cookout Resource Person: Use recipes from here and around the world to teach basic cooking skills and community building both in the kitchen and over an open fire. Resource camper groups in preparation for cookouts through out the week.
  • Environmental Educator: Develop and lead nature lessons with camper groups enabling them to discover the diversity of God’s creation in our camp surroundings.
  • Hike Leader - Camp Out Resource Person: Resource camper group hikes on the Appalachian Trail (near camp) and provide support for group camp outs at camp.
  • Challenge Course/Initiative Course Staff: Lead groups through low and high ropes courses and to debrief with groups to integrate learning’s into the Christian Education theme.
