Talking With Your Kids About What Really Matters
Do you wonder sometimes if you are asking your children the right questions? How can I get him
to open up about what’s really going on inside as fast as he is changing? And if you do feel
connected, do you want to have a forum to continue to explore the issues which really matter to
you as a family?
In this retreat experience, Shannon White and 11-year-old Peyton White will lead discussions, activities, and games with groups of kids and adults together and separately to help you and your children communicate on a deeper level. Don’t worry, we’ll have lots of fun too!
Shannon White is an author, pastor, speaker and coach. She received her
educational degrees from Auburn University (BA, Business Admin) and Princeton
Theological Seminary (MDiv). She was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA)
and has served as minister of several churches. She co-hosted “Spirit-Talk,” a
radio show interviewing people of different spiritual backgrounds. She then
pursued her interest in television, behind-the-scenes at CBS News, then
on-camera at News 12 Westchester. Shannon’s most important role, however, is
as a mother to her 11-year-old daughter, Peyton.
Peyton White is a 6th Grader who loves basketball, lacrosse, snowboarding, playing with friends, and her IPod. She also enjoys travelling with her mom to interesting areas of the world. She loves her brothers and sisters…and her adorable dog, Max.
Together, Shannon and Peyton wrote, How Was School Today? Fine, as a way to help elementary school-aged children and their parents have real and open conversations.
